‘Whore’ Films World Premiere Announced

Charlatan clinic is pleased to announce the world premiere of all 6 Whore films: ‘Underage Sex Worker’, ‘Married Woman’, ‘Illegal Migrant’, ‘Rent Boy’, ‘Transgender’ and ‘Refugee’ to be screened at Thievery Studio on the 8 April, 2016. 

The ‘Whore’ project was initially a theatre work performed nationally throughout 2014. All six monologues were then devised to screen by Melissa Fergusson and mentored by writer, Donna Banicevich-Gera.

 

The core cast for ‘Whore’ Films being Geraldine Creff (‘Underage Sex Worker’, ‘Illegal Migrant’), Rebecca Parr (‘Married Woman’, ‘Refugee) and Lee ah yen Faatoia (‘Transgender’, ‘Rent Boy). Each short film runs for 12 minutes and delivers a snapshot of each street sex worker based on true life experiences in Karangahape Road, Auckland.

charlatan clinic are pleased to announce the world premiere of the first (of six) WHORE films: ‘Illegal Migrant’ to be screened at Lot 23 studio on the 14 February, 2015.

“She hails from Brazil. Arrived in NZ on a tourist visa in the hope of finding love or a good job. Instead she resorts to sex work sleeping with both straight & bisexual men. She has one friend who she confides in; lives in fear of being deported.”

WHORE: Stage to Screen

Charlatan clinic’s most recent theatre work ‘Whore’ has now been adapted to screen. ‘Whore’ is a collection of stories about street sex workers from Auckland, New Zealand. The play has performed successfully in 2014 at alternative venues including Lifewise Merge Cafe in May/June, Lot 23 Studio in July, then toured to Wellington showcasing at BATS (Out of Site) in late September.

Fergusson has been working with a small team of creatives to start the process with one short film already in post-production.
‘Illegal Migrant’ will be screened in early 2015, with plans to take all 6 short films internationally, on the festival circuit.

The talented core cast for ‘Illegal Migrant’ includes Geraldine Creff (Illegal Migrant), Jennie Cruse (Patron), Carl Drake (John) and Becky Kuek (Maria) in this real-time snippet of this sex worker’s life.

Charlatan clinic and Printable Reality are proudly working
In collaboration to present our new work ‘Whore’.

Contemporary, topical, true-life based monologues told by six
Characters: ‘Married Woman’, ‘Underage Sex Worker’, ‘Illegal
Migrant’, ‘Rent Boy’, ‘Refugee’ and ‘Transgender’. This work is a
Collection of stories about street sex workers in Auckland, New Zealand.

Directed and written by Melissa Fergusson (‘Motherlock’, ‘The
Artefact Project’, ‘pURe’, ‘Salt), the show features acting talent
Rebecca Parr (‘Shortland Street’, ’pURe’), Lee Ah Yen
Faatoia (‘The 3UP’, ‘Hongi’ for Sexy Bird) and Geraldine Creff
(Tartuffe, Spartacus) in the principal character roles.

‘Whore’ is performing at ‘Lifewise’ Merge Café on May 29 – June 1 at 8pm, who are kindly

Initiating new ways to solve challenging social issues and providing services to families in need, the
