1.When did you discover your love of makeup?
I discovered makeup at a young age maybe around 10. I was a ballet dancer and whenever we had showcases makeup was something I always paid attention to. I would take note of whose makeup was nice and whose makeup needed work, so in the end I could fix my own makeup to how I wanted it.
2.Where do you get your inspiration?
Inspiration for me comes from colour and all the historical eras, I also keep up to date with current trends. I find inspiration just by whoever my client is at the time as well, by their personality, and their personal style.
3.What is your most memorable project you have ever worked on?
Would have to be my first ever wedding! It was a classic 50’s style makeup with bold red lips and it was held at Auckland Zoo! I was able to attend the wedding as well, they had the ceremony in front of the Hippos and the dinner next to the lions!
4.What is your go to product? The most essential item in your kit?
Would have to be my Mac blot powder. It has been used on all my makeup jobs. It does not add colour or texture and primarily works to control shine, so I can use it on most skin however many times needed and it won’t make foundation look cakey.
5.Have you worked on other shows/shoots with charlatan clinic before?
I worked on the WHORE fundraiser in September and just recently ‘Illegal Migrant’ short film.
6.Who would you really like to work with – name anyone?
Either Audrey Hepburn or Twiggy from the 50’s 60’s or someone current would be Angelina Jolie or Aishwarya Rai.
7.What is the most important lesson you have learnt working with models/talent?
Always take in to consideration what they say works best, as they are the best person to know what works for them, and they are the one who needs to feel happy and comfortable in front of a camera.
8.Do you have a favourite makeup or skincare brand ?
Makeup brand would have to be Benefit, Revlon and Mac. They all are fun colourful and great quality. Skincare would have to be Dr Hauschka as it is completely natural and helps to support skins natural process.
9.What is your dream location to film/shoot?
Would be a photoshoot either on a beautiful tropical beach or a misty glowing forest.
10.What makes you smile?
Would have to be that moment when my client looks in the mirror and I see that surprised confident smile spread across their face.
